She is passionate about educating others, including students, about the health and health care challenges rural communities face, and how to work together to create solutions to improve health and health care for all of rural residents. Suzanne’s dissertation examined racial disparities in the quality of health care. She has focused her research over the last several years on access to rural health care, specifically the new Rural Emergency Hospital Designation Program. She is excited to return to her longtime hometown of Durham, N.C. as part of a team at Duke University’s Rural Health Equity Hub that is focused on advancing rural health and rural health equity.
