Project focus: The Fellow will further refine the American Brain Coalition’s Community Engagement Platform by deepening the ability to integrate lived experience into research, support community-driven advocacy, and empower organizations to shape and benefit from advances in brain science and technology while contributing to the next generation of change-makers.

Drawing on her background in patient engagement and advocacy, Olivia Mills seeks to strengthen the American Brain Coalition’s Community Engagement Platform through collaboration, education, and member involvement. Her work focuses on exploring how the Coalition’s community engagement resources can be grounded in basic science while addressing the varying needs of advocates, people with lived experience, researchers, and developers. She is particularly interested in supporting the translation of vital brain and nervous system research concepts into actionable and accessible materials that foster stronger engagement across the brain health ecosystem. Olivia holds a B.A. in public health and an M.S. in health promotion management from American University.
