Title

Research!America Civic Science Fellow

Year

2026

Project focus: The Fellow will work with early career scientists, science creators/influencers, science journal editors and others to develop creative digital strategies for connecting Gen Z to trustworthy, compelling scientific content.

A microbiologist and infectious disease scientist by training, Victoria Schneider has a passion for global and public health and the ways public engagement, society, and policy impact these fields.  She received her doctorate in the biological sciences at The Rockefeller University, where her thesis work explored a novel aspect of genetic regulation in the parasitic species responsible for malaria. While completing her Ph.D., she was an active member and leader of the Science Education and Policy Association in New York City, a founding member organization of the National Science Policy Network. After completing her graduate work, she joined Research!America first as a Science Policy Fellow and eventually as the Senior Manager of its Global Health Research and Development Advocacy Program. She then went on to serve as the Senior Research Program Manager for the Precision Health Initiative—a transdisciplinary, population health–focused research initiative at the University of Virginia. Victoria is incredibly excited to return to Research!America and lead this project exploring ways to create online content about medical research and science that is accessible and engaging to members of Gen Z. She lives in Northern Virginia with her wife and their two cats.
