Chloe Gansen

Title

Morgridge Institute Community Engagement Civic Science Fellow

Year

2026

Project focus: The Fellow will develop and empirically evaluate real-world strategies for public engagement with science that meaningfully connects communities across different ideological or value-based fault lines.

Chloe Gansen studies the politicization of health and science—including its drivers (both circumstantial and strategic), its effects on the public, and its downstream consequences for society. Her recent research interests include strategies for mitigating the negative effects of politicization and political polarization on health- and science-related perceptions and individuals’ willingness to engage with recommendations, as well as for communicating effectively about public health and science despite these phenomena. Chloe holds a Ph.D. in mass communication from the University of Minnesota and previously worked in applied health communication roles at the National Cancer Institute and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
